The word was appropriated by French sociologist Emile Durkheim in the late 19th century to describe the growing fragmentation and moral decay within modern society. 

anomie, inc. has designed 4N0Mi3.com to promote information to and about the world, exposing the anomie that pervades our culture and has, as a result of such modern phenomena as the industrial revolution and globalization, become a world-wide concern.
